Be Mine

Part I: 2011 SAG Awards

I've always looked forward to the glamourous hollywood looks during the awards season.  We previously looked at two of my favorite pieces at the 2011 Golden Globes and here are my picks from this year's SAG Awards.

I love Rosario Dawson's youthful look here, in a J. Mendel pale yellow dress.  She not only looked comfortable and confident, her legs looked a mile long.

But my favorite part of her outfit are those true emerald green Susie Fox earrings.  The colors popped and really complimented her look.  I adore the cabochon cut gems and how they look like they're set onto mini crowns.

Miss Jenna Ushkowitz from Glee wore this jaw-dropping Neil Lane golden bib necklace.  I spent hours obsessively looking for more pictures of this regal piece.

Mila Kunas looked like a goddess in this floral Alexander McQueen dress.

And although I don't usually care for hot pink, I loved the way this dress hugs Jennifer Lawrence's figure.  It's such a different look for her and she's really pulling it off.  But this woman seems to be able to do anything - she spent the entire movie wearing dirty plaid shirts and covered in mud, blood, cuts and bruises in Winter's Bone yet still managed to look stunning.  Next up - she's playing Mystique in X-Men: First Class covered in blue paint and scales.  I can't wait.

Part II: Valentine's

We've had an enormous amount of snow here on the east coast just in the past weeks.  Misha found these creative snow by-products on her way home.

This arm chair and telephone set sits directly across from...

...this lazy boy couch!  Such a cosy looking living room setup.

In my attempt to reintroduce good habits back into my life, I woke up this morning in pitch darkness to go to a morning yoga class.  When we got out it was already sunny out.  Combined with the adrenaline goodness from the exercise, it made a recipe for a great day.  Just a few weeks ago it would've been dark at 7 AM, or even as late as 8 AM!

Since it's almost Valentine's Day, I thought I'd feature a couple of my favorite pieces from the Luë collection - we all want to feel special and appreciated.  And I like pretty, shiny things.

Victorian Style Sterling Silver Ring by Luë Design
This intricately designed cocktail ring follows a delicate floral motif.  I love love love the clusters of freshwater pearls and the deep, rich red of the burmese rubies.  There's a secret to this ring  - it's actually a locket.  It's the perfect hiding spot for a sweet message.

Oval Moonstone Ring by Luë Design
Moonstone's one of my favorite stones.  Like labodrite, it's distinguished by the interplay of colors created by light reflecting off the internal inclusions.  This oval cabochon cut gem is translucent in color, but gives off a faint shade of blue under different light angles.  The marcasite catches light well and adds a subtle glamour to the entire piece.

Chain linked silver ring by Luë Design
I adore the clean lines of this sculptural unisex silver ring.  It's a statement piece by itself.

Wishing you lots of happiness and love,
Seimi

Here are two of my favorite accessories from the 2011 Golden Globes:

The beautiful Nicole Kidman wore an amazing 1920's turquoise and enamel brooch from Fred Leighton.

As always, Van Cleef & Arpels was a starlet favorite on the red carpet.  Anne Hathaway wore these vintage yellow diamond earrings with her stunning Armani Privé gown.

Timeless Style Icon: Princess Kelly

For Luë's very first blog post, what would be more fitting than to feature Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco?

Her wedding dress, designed by MGM wardrobe designer Helen Rose would probably fill an entire entry on its own.

Having only been in eleven Hollywood films, she was probably most known for her three Hitchcock movies - Dial M for Murder (1953), Rear Window (1954) and To Catch a Thief (1955).

In To Catch a Thief, Princess Kelly played the female lead opposite Cary Grant's character - a notorious jewel thief.  The jewelry her character wears are meant to look expensive as it was part of her scheme to catch Grant's character's attention.  The diamond necklace here matches the 'Cool Blonde' persona she so effortlessly plays in Hitchcock's romantic thrillers.

Gifted by HSH Prince Ranier III of Monaco.
Coco Chanel famously said, "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory."  I think that describes Grace Kelly's style perfectly.  She was always elegantly dressed, and never over done.

HSH Prince Ranier gave Princess Kelly not one but two engagement rings.  He had proposed to her with an eternity band of diamonds and rubies from Cartier.

Later, when he visited Princess Kelly in Los Angeles, he gifted Princess Kelly this 12-carat emerald-cut diamond ring flanked with two baguettes.

Princess Kelly as Tracy Lord, a wealthy Newport, Rhode Island socialite.
It fitted her character in High Society (1956) so perfectly that she wore this engagement ring throughout the movie.

This is my very favorite photo of the royal couple.  She looked so genuinely happy and in love.
